History, Hidden Gems & Old Florida Coastal Life
Tips are Appreciated
Step back in time — and into the heart of Old Florida — as we cruise through the rich history and vibrant coastal life of Cedar Key. This guided tour brings the island’s fascinating past to life, from its 1800s boomtown days and role in the pencil industry to the first cross-Florida railroad.
Along the way, you’ll discover preserved historic buildings, local landmarks, and stories of shipwrecks, hurricanes, and the colorful characters who shaped the island.
But Cedar Key’s story isn’t just in the past — it’s alive today in the thriving aquaculture of clams, oysters, and fresh Gulf seafood, the lush coastal scenery, and the eclectic artist community that calls the island home.

Living Cedar Key started as a personal blog—a place where we (Ryan and Janeth) could share the quiet charm, local beauty, and stories we discovered during our frequent visits to Cedar Key. Since 2015, we’ve explored nearly every corner of this island, falling more in love with it each time. What began as a few photos and reflections on Facebook grew into a community of over 10,000 people who share our appreciation for this special place.
Now, we’ve turned that love into something more: guided golf cart tours designed to help visitors experience Cedar Key the way we have—through its history, wildlife, nature, and local folklore. Whether it’s your first time here or your fiftieth, we want to give you a deeper connection to the island we’ve come to call home.
We’re still Living Cedar Key—just with a few more wheels and a whole lot more stories to share.
